All that the “world” has to offer us, beloved, may seem delightful, pretty,
intriguing and amazing. But to all of that – Jesus warns, “All that you see here,
– the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone
that will not be thrown down.”
The disciples were baffled at Jesus’ comment and asked,
“Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these
things are about to happen?” Jesus answered, “See that you not be deceived,
for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and
‘The time has come.’ Do not follow them!” Lk 21:5-11
Beware, beloved! As Advent and Christmas approach, and the world pumps up
all of it’s Materialistic Powers, there is a force beneath it all that’s trying to drag us
away from God. The crowds, the competition, the pricing, the sales,
the traffic and the “satanic Friday.”
If you’re feeling especially strong in your faith, then go into it
with a heart of love and forgiveness and giving,
rather than a goal to “get” something.
It may not ever be accomplished.
And then, if we can come out of it all having GIVEN
just a little bit of Christ’s love to those we encounter,
then it’s WE, it’s Christ who beat them at their own game!
Otherwise, beloved, just stay away and pray
for all those who don’t know any better!
May our Loving God bless us all in abundance!
