12-08-13 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

12-08-13
(2nd Sunday Advent, A)
John the Baptist said, “I am baptizing you with water, for repentance,
but the one who is coming after me is mightier than I.  I am not worthy to carry
his sandals.  He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
”  Mt 3:1-12

That’s Jesus!

Fire_FlameThe Prophet Isaiah describes the Holy Spirit as,
a spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
a spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge
and of fear of the LORD,
”  Is 11:1-10

And John further describes the fire as a cleansing fire.
A fire that will burn away the sin and the unrepentant sinner.
It’s Advent, beloved, time for us to burn away some of that “chaff.”
Time to begin to form some new and holy habits,
so that we will be prepared when Jesus comes again!
