12-23-13 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

12-23-13
On the second day before Christmas my True Love gave to me . . .
a baby named John, a voice to be heard, and a message for eternity.

The relatives and neighbors of Elizabeth asked her what name she would give her son.
She replied John.  But they were insistent that John was not appropriate.  So,
they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called.
He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,” and all were amazed.
Immediately his (Zechariah’s) mouth was opened, his tongue freed,
and he spoke blessing God.  Lk 1:57-66

The Lord spoke through the prophet Malachi about John, saying,
Lo, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me;  Mal 3:1-4

Birth of John

Birth of John the Baptist, Giuliano Bugiardini

Before any great thing or person can come,
people need to be informed, space needs to be made.
John informed the people.  And the space was a place in
their hearts.  A cleansing to make room for the Lord.

This was the “Baptism of Repentance” that John was so well known for.
“Make straight the path,” for Jesus is coming.
Just two more days!
