On the Day before Christmas my True Love gave to me . . .
a house in which to dwell, and a Light to guide us all into peace.
King David was feeling a little guilty that he was living in a palace, while God was stuck
in a little old tent. So he proposed to build God a Temple. But God replied that He did
not need a building that man had built, in which to dwell. For God had already built the ultimate dwelling place for Himself. It was ‘man‘ himself. So God said to David,
“I will raise up your heir after you, sprung from your loins, and I will make his
Kingdom firm. I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me. Your house and
your Kingdom shall endure forever before me; your throne shall stand firm forever.”
2 Sm 7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16
No hurricane, no tornado, no flood, no landslide, no volcano, and especially, no enemies shall ever stand against this House. This house is Jesus! And when Jesus dwells within us, when we offer ourselves to serve as his dwelling place, He will stand secure
within us as well, beloved.
Zechariah, the father of the newly born John (the Baptist), sang out in joy and praise to God with the words,
“In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into
the way of peace.” Lk 1:67-79
So, whenever we might feel like we’re living in a world of darkness, beloved,
just remember WHO dwells within us. It’s Jesus. His Light will always guide us
in the Way that will lead to PEACE! And His LIGHT is LOVE!
A very blessed and joy-filled Christmas Eve to you, beloved.
See you tomorrow . . .
