01-26-14 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

January 26, 2014
(Third Sunday Ordinary Time A)
When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee . . .  From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”  Mt 4:12-23
John the Baptist’s time had come to fulfillment and now Jesus’ ministry truly began.  John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.  It was a preparation for something greater – the coming of Jesus.  Jesus’ baptism was a baptism of repentance for the entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven, which He brought about.  Jesus is the key that unlocks the door, the ticket that allows entrance and now it’s up to us to use Him.  And that is accomplished by letting Him into our hearts and lives, every day, every minute.  The Kingdom of God is at hand – seize it, beloved, and come!
