04-10-14 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 10, 2014
the Jews said to him (Jesus), “You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM.”   Jn 8:51-59

And just as a point of reference, about 1300-years earlier, Moses said to God (in the presence of the unconsumed burning bush), “If I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what do I tell them?” God replied to Moses: I am who I am.  Then he added: This is what you will tell the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you. Ex 3:13-14

I AM who am, is the Name ‘Yahweh’ that the Israelites used for God.  That Name was SO holy that it was rarely, if ever, used itself.  And it was exactly that name that Jesus used to refer to Himself.  The Jews pleaded with Jesus to tell them just who He was.  And time after time He did!  They just didn’t want to believe!

What about us, beloved?  When we see or hear something extraordinary, do we believe?  Or do we just pass it off as a dream or an anomaly, or never mention it because we’re worried they might think we’re crazy.  Believe in God!  Believe in Jesus, and you just might be surprised the incredible things you may be witness to.   God bless!
