04-21-14 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 21, 2014
(Monday in the Octave of Easter)
After the stone from the tomb of Jesus was mysteriously rolled away and Jesus arose from death, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had happened. The chief priests assembled with the elders and took counsel; then they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.’”  Mt 28:8-15

Funny, how wherever there is evil, wherever there is sin there is also money.  Those same ‘chief priests and elders’ thought they could do away with Jesus once and for all by paying off Judas to betray Him.  It ended in Judas’ death (once and for all), but Jesus lived.  Now, since ‘plan A’ obviously didn’t work, ‘plan B’ was again to pay off the soldiers who saw it all, to lie in order for them (the priests) to save face.  Money just doesn’t do it!

Today our corporate world and government thinks it can hold us in slavery to miserable bosses, to unscrupulous dealings, to unaffordable gas and food and medical prices – to bring us down into their pit of self-destruction.  BUT, we have something better!  We have Jesus Christ!  And Jesus WILL see us through it all.  Hang in there, beloved.  BELIEVE and it will be.  Trust in the Lord! For not even death can separate us from His love – a love that is not dependent upon money for anything – LIFE ETERNAL!
