(St. Peter Chanel, Priest, Martyr)
Jesus said to the Pharisee Nicodemus, “unless one is born from above, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man once grown old be born again? Surely he cannot reenter his mother’s womb and be born again, can he?” Jesus answered, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless one is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. What is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of spirit is spirit.” Jn 3:1-8
Have you been “born of the Spirit” beloved?
If we’ve been baptized, we have.
We CAN enter the Kingdom of God.
So now, the question is – What have we allowed the Spirit to do within us? Do we allow Him to correct our thoughts when they are not quite ‘right’? Have we allowed Him to guide us to do difficult things like being humble, like helping the poor, like smiling at an enemy, like praying for those who do not know how to pray?
Have we allowed the Holy Spirit within us to help us resist the urge to enact revenge and offer peace instead? Once we are born of the Spirit, the next step is to allow Him to transform our very flesh. It CAN be done. It may not seem easy – but it is well worth the effort, both to our body and our soul!
The peace of Christ be with you always, beloved.
And the Love of God be in your Spirit.
