05-08-14 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

May 8, 2014
Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world.
Jn 6:44-51

It’s called The Bread of Life Discourse.  Jesus relates how the “manna” in the desert of Moses prefigured the “true” bread from heaven which will feed those who partake and believe with “eternal life.”  Jesus is that “bread.”  He gave His life for all.  And He continues to give the Flesh of His body and His life blood to those who believe – we call this the Eucharist – our thanksgiving gift from God, our gift from Jesus.  Jesus is the Way and the Truth and the Life.  And He says, “Come.”
