Jesus said, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.”  Mt 9:32-38

We tend to look at this verse from the point of view of all the people ripe for harvesting.  The poor, the needy, the destitute, the abandoned and the lonely – all needing to find Jesus and His Kingdom.  And the only way they’ll find Him is through us, His laborers.

But maybe we just don’t feel like laborers.  Maybe we all feel more like “managers.”  Or worse yet, like “micro-managers.”  We can tell everyone else what to do while we sit comfortably on our dispositions.

Well Jesus didn’t say that he needed micro-managers.  I think the world has quite enough of them!  What He needs is laborers to let others know that they have a place in His Kingdom.  That Jesus loves us all so very much that all we need to do is turn around and seek Him for all our needs.  Through us laborers, we will feed the poor, we will bring companionship to the abandoned, the destitute and the lonely.  And we will stand up for the rights of all people who choose to live right in the eyes of God.

All we need do is listen for His voice,
Whispering our names to the Wind . . .
“Come!”
