10-07-14 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(Our Lady of the Rosary)
Martha said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving?  Tell her to help me.”  The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.  There is need of only one thing.  Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”  Lk 10:38-42

The writer of Ecclesiastes said, “There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens.”  Eccl 3:7

Jesus knew that He would not be around forever.  So for Him the most important thing for anyone was to listen to His wisdom and learn.  Martha was concerned with feeding the family and her visitors, but that was a lot of work for one person.  She needed Mary’s help.  So both women were right in what they were doing.  If Martha didn’t do the cooking – no one would have anything to eat.  And if Mary didn’t listen to the Lord – it was very possible she might miss something that could be life-changing for both herself and for Martha.

There is a time for everything.  We just need to make the best of the time we have and try not to get too anxious if it doesn’t satisfy everyone else in the world’s demands.

Be at Peace, beloved.
Always be at peace!
