12-09-14 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

December 9, 2014
A voice says, “Cry out!” I answer, “What shall I cry out?”
“All flesh is grass, and all their glory like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower wilts, when the breath of the LORD blows upon it.  So then, the people is the grass.  Though the grass withers and the flower wilts, the word of our God stands forever.”  Is 40:1-11

Well, that certainly puts some finality on these “tents” we call us.  These tents we so worship.  But there is that hint of eternity mixed in this quote too.  The WORD of God.  Want to touch eternity, beloved?  Open up the word, the Sacred Scriptures, the Bible.  Maybe it’s been a while.  Maybe we read it every day.  But just imagine now, that we are touching a little bit of forever with every word we read.  And that eternity is sinking so deeply into our thoughts and our hearts, into our very souls, that eventually we become it.  We become one with God in eternal life – and then there’s not a whole lot else of “us” that really matters. All the rest can fade away like the grass!
