12-26-14 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(St. Stephen, First Martyr)

Jesus said, “You will be hated by all because of my name,
but whoever endures to the end will be saved.”  Mt 10:17-22

St. Stephen said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”  But they cried out in a loud voice, covered their ears, and rushed upon him together. They threw him out of the city, and began to stone him. The witnesses laid down their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul.  As they were stoning Stephen, he called out “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”   Acts 6:8-10; 7:54-59

Ever get a funny look, beloved, a sneer or a grimace when it was learned that you are a Christian.  It can be quite a disconcerting feeling.  And then what is your response.  Do we shy away or deny it, as Peter did?  Or do we stand up for our Lord, Jesus, and even be willing to die for him, as Stephen did?  Want a one-way ticket to Heaven?  No question about it!  Follow Stephen.  Follow Jesus and endure to the very end!
