(The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God)
“The LORD bless you and keep you!
The LORD let his face shine upon you,
and be gracious to you!
The LORD look upon you kindly and
give you peace!” Nm 6:22-27
What more beautiful words can be said on this first day of the New Year, beloved!
This is the day we celebrate our Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. Born without sin, lived in full compliance with the Will of God and rewarded with being the Mother of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Mary is the perfect model for all mothers and the intercessor of our prayers to her Son.
Today is also the Church’s day dedicated to World Peace. Through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, let us pray today and always for the end of terrorism and violence in our world.
2015 is also the year dedicated by our Pope to those who have made vows to consecrated life; to the brothers and sisters who are called monks, friars, nuns and all those who dedicate their lives to God. We pray for their strength of perseverance, because it is WE who are in their prayers. And it is they who remind us of God’s great love for us, through the passion of His Son, Jesus.
Today, my prayer is for YOU, beloved. I pray that your year is productive, safe and always holy in the eyes of the Lord. May our loving God bless you with kindness, patience, peace and love this year and always. And may you be that bright, shining star that illumines our world with the JOY of our Lord!
