In arguing about Jesus, the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them (the guards), “Why did you not bring him?”  The guards answered, “Never before has anyone spoken like this man.”  So the Pharisees answered them, “Have you also been deceived?  Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him?  But this crowd, which does not know the law, is accursed.”  Nicodemus, one of their members who had come to him (Jesus) earlier, said to them, “Does our law condemn a man before it first hears him and finds out what he is doing?   Jn_7:40-53

It was pretty obvious that the Pharisees who wanted Jesus eliminated were not all in agreement.  Unfortunately, the one with the biggest mouth always seems to get his way.   And it was no different for Jesus.  But little did they know that their own condemnation brought life, not only for Jesus, but for the whole world.  And thanks be to God for that life!
