04-09-15 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 9, 2015
After His resurrection from death, Jesus appeared to His disciples and said, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.”
Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.  And he said to them, “Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.  You are witnesses of these things.”
  Lk 24:35-48

He “opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.”  Do the Scriptures never seem to make any sense to you, beloved?  Maybe you have not yet allowed the Lord to “open your mind.”  If you do, all of a sudden you’ll find that something clicks.  All of a sudden, it will all make sense, and you’ll wonder why the whole world doesn’t understand these incredible Words.  Well, they just haven’t allowed the Lord to open their minds yet.  Sometimes a closed mind is just like a prison cell.  We’re locked in the enslavement of our job, or not enough money, or sexual frustrations, or other people’s depressing attitudes, when all it takes is an open heart and mind to the Lord for the solution to come.  Sometimes all it takes is a little letting go of that “self” to discover a freedom we’ve never imagined possible.  Jesus invites everyone to “Come!” and live.
