04-18-15 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 18, 2015
While His disciples were out from shore, several miles into the Lake, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they began to be afraid.  But he said to them, “It is I.  Do not be afraid.”  Jn 6:16-21

John’s version of the disciples encounter with Jesus walking on water differs a little from the Synoptic version in that there is no part about Peter walking on water and there is no calming of the sea.  As Jesus approaches the boat, He never enters the boat, rather, the boat is immediately brought to shore.  Do not be afraid, Jesus says, beloved.  For He will take us to our destinations in the blink of an eye!
