04-21-15 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 21, 2015
As they were stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”  Then he fell to his knees and cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them”; and when he said this, he fell asleep.  Acts 7:51—8:1a

THIS is what it is to be Christian!  Even as they were stoning him to death, Stephen, the first Christian martyr, like Jesus, begged God’s mercy for his murderers.  That’s love!  Ever watch one of those movies beloved, with the mean old, macho thug with an Uzi in one hand and a cross around his neck?  That’s hypocrisy!  If there is anything that Jesus is NOT about, it is killing others, let alone ruthlessly or vindictively.  If we are to be true, believing, Christians, beloved, we need to LIVE His life, as well as exhibit our belief through signs.  It is a life of LOVE!

Jesus said to them (the unbelieving crowd), “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”   Jn _6:30-35

Beyond all human passions: appreciation, wealth, revenge, sex, or even food, Jesus satisfies, nourishes and fulfills our deepest needs.  Believe!
