(St. Barnabas, Apostle)
Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, ‘You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, Raqa, will be answerable to the Sanhedrin, and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ will be liable to fiery Gehenna.” Mt 5:20-26
Well, we may not be saying Raqa very often any more. But the “fool” part, wow, I can feel the heat already. Sometimes, not only others, but I even call myself a fool for some of the idiotic things I can do. Hmmm. But I do apologize to God every time I think that way of others. Maybe it’ll just be a blow drying! Ha!
But all joking aside, I don’t think Jesus was joking. We really do need to put all of our own excuses out to them before we condemn them. Maybe it was an emergency, maybe it was stress, maybe that cell call was urgent when they cut us off. Maybe – it just could have been us!!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
