06-23-15 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

June 23, 2015
Jesus said to His disciples, “Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.  This is the Law and the Prophets.

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life.  And those who find it are few.”   Mt_7:6, 12-14

The “Law” is love, and the “Prophesy” is summed up in that saying, ‘what you give is what you get.‘  Today we call it the “Golden Rule.”  But somehow, beloved, it goes against what some people’s human nature craves.  And that craving is all centered on the self, rather than the other.

If we find it very difficult to give.  If we find it very difficult to love ‘the other’ before ourselves, then we’ll find that the road to “LIFE” is very narrow indeed, because it goes so far against our nature.

But if, on the other hand, we enjoy giving.  If we enjoy Loving, even more than being loved, then we are clearly on the path to life.  And if you’ve ever tried to convince someone of the other persuasion of this fact – then you will fully understand the ‘narrow path’ concept.  For them, it’s hard to love and for us, it’s hard not to love (them especially, as lost as they may be).

So, blessed are you, beloved, and few!
And praise be to God!
