07-19-15 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

July 19, 2015
(Sixteenth Sunday, Ordinary Time B)
The apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught.  He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”  Mk 6:30-34

A hard day’s work is certainly cause enough for some needed rest.  And yet, there is more to a hard day’s work than just physical labor.  Sometimes the stress of demanding relationships at work or at home can be just as worthy a cause for the need for rest, or maybe even more so!  The disciples were called to do something that may have been so far out of their comfort zone that their stress may have been just unbearable.  Yet, after they actually went out and performed their mission – to bring the Good News of Jesus to the people – they were so excited that they couldn’t wait to report their findings back to Him – even though they may have been both physically and spiritually exhausted!

Every once in a while, beloved, we need some solo time.  Time to reflect.  Time to catch our breaths.  Time to figure out what to do next in those demanding situations, we so often find ourselves in.  That’s our ‘Jesus time’!  And even when the world around us doesn’t allow that time, when we might need it most, Jesus will offer it to us in the midst of it all.  Seek Him, ALWAYS, beloved, and He will give you REST!
