(The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary)
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.  And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?  Lk 1:39-56

The “infant” in her womb!  Not the “tissue.”  Not the non-person.  Not even the fetus.  The INFANT!  And even before the birth of Jesus, Mary was called the “mother” of my Lord.  And even beyond the fact that neither John the Baptist nor Jesus were born yet, they both communicated through kicks and leaping within the wombs of their mothers.

Blessed be all mothers who allow God’s will, in having their children when circumstances in their lives may not make it the best time.  Let us pray for those who instead, choose murder over life.  Please, Holy Spirit, bring change in their hearts!

Blessed be Mary, on this the Solemnity of her most Holy Assumption!
