10-01-15 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

October 1, 2015
(Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, Virgin and Doctor of the Church)
Sending his disciples out on their first missionary assignment, Jesus said to the seventy-two that when they entered a house they were to say to its owners,  ‘Peace to this household.’  And in response He said, “If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.”  Lk_10:1-12

If you ever offered peace to another person, in the form of a smile, or a nod, or a wave, and it was ignored or just scowled at, you would know the feeling of anger, or hatred, or resentment that it leaves on you.  Jesus is telling His disciples and us not to allow those feelings to bring you down.  Instead, let your own sign of peace return to you as Peace.

We never know what that other person was thinking or what state they happened to be in when we sent that gesture of love.  Maybe they were having such a bad day, they just couldn’t imagine anything good coming their way.  Maybe they weren’t even paying attention and just missed your sign.  Or maybe they’re just a naturally grumpy person!  Shouldn’t let it get you down, beloved.  Keep on smiling and if their smile doesn’t return, at least your smile of peace will come back to you!!!  Trust in Jesus!

It’s a new month – let’s start it better!!!
( : Happy October : )
