There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test Jesus and said, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?” He said in reply, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” He replied to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.” Lk_10:25-37
Don’t you love how Jesus almost always answers a question with a question. And usually the question-answer is asked when the original question was presented as a trap. Jesus knew when a question was asked for unknown knowledge versus looking to see how much He knew. Funny how we learn so much from others when we respond to their questions with a question. It’s actually a beautiful practice. Lets them feel pretty good about themselves instead of attacking. Might be worth giving a try – next time you’re asked a question, beloved. The Holy Spirit will guide you! Just let Him/Her!
