01-13-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

January 13, 2016
When Samuel went to sleep in his place, the LORD came and revealed his presence, calling out as before, “Samuel, Samuel!”  Samuel answered, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”  1_Sm_3:1-10,19-20

In His baptism, on Sunday, Jesus heard the Voice of God indicating His pleasure with Jesus, before His ministry even began.  Jesus was listening!  Today, Samuel is also listening, though he did not initially know that it was God who was speaking to him.  Eli the priest advises young Samuel how to respond back to God’s call, letting God know that His call has been heard.

Do we ever hear that call of God, beloved, and not know exactly how we are to respond back?  Samuel is teaching us today, that all we need do is stop and let God know.  “We got it Lord.  What would you like to say to us?  We are listening!”
