02-02-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

(The Presentation of the Lord)
Since the children share in blood and flesh, Jesus likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the Devil, and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life.  Heb_2:14-18

Is death holding us captive, beloved?  We see it in the news, we watch it in our movies and read about it in our books.  We are devastated when one of our loved ones face it in cancer or other diseases.  And rightly so, as we will surely miss them when they depart through that doorway.

But Jesus frees us of the fear of going through that door, because He did Himself, and then showed us that there really IS more.  There is LIFE eternal!  And in that life, we will be reunited with all those who have gone before us.  So fear not, beloved, but have hope.  God is waiting for us just beyond that door – and the kingdom awaiting us is GLORIOUS!
