02-13-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

February 13, 2016
Thus says the LORD: If you remove from your midst oppression,
false accusation and malicious speech; If you bestow your bread on the hungry and satisfy the afflicted; Then light shall rise for you in the darkness, and the gloom shall become for you like midday; Then the LORD will guide you always and give you plenty even on the parched land.  He will renew your strength, and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring whose water never fails.  Is_58:9b-14

There’s nothing as wonderful as direct instruction and a definite outcome:  If – Then.  Don’t you just love it, beloved!  Sounds so simple.  Are we lost in the darkness and gloom of life?  All we need do is clean up our own act, as the LORD instructs, and our inner spirit will be renewed.  We may still see the gloom and darkness out there, and it may even surround us, but INSIDE there WILL be peace.  There will be strength to endure, and God, Jesus will be our hope, our light, our eternity!  And that’s comforting!
