02-27-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

February 27, 2016
Jesus told a parable about two sons and their father.  The younger son took off with his premature inheritance and found life on his own to be pretty tough, as he fell into poverty and hunger . . .  Coming to his senses he thought, ‘How many of my father’s hired workers have more than enough food to eat, but here am I, dying from hunger.’  So he humbly returned, begging mercy from his father.  His father’s response . . .  his father ordered his servants, ‘Quickly, bring the finest robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.  Take the fattened calf and slaughter it. Then let us celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost, and has been found.’  Then the celebration began.  Lk_15:1-32

Sometimes we don’t know what we’ve got til it’s gone! (hmmm, sounds like a song)  But it’s really true.  And what we’ve got is a VERY loving Father, God.  And then on top of that we have a Son, Jesus who loves us so much, that He gave his very life to teach us, to show us, to guide us to Eternal Life.  We have the Holy Spirit to be with us for comfort, wisdom and strength!  We really don’t need anything else!  And yet, God has showered us with a purple robe, a house, a family, a loving community, and we can go on and on and on.  Oh praise the Lord in thanksgiving.  We have been and are – VERY blessed, beloved!  Praise the LORD!
