03-02-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

March 2, 2016
Jesus said to his disciples: . . . whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.  But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”  Mt_5:17-19

Independence.  Don’t we all fight with it so very much!  We really don’t like to follow rules.  Especially when they don’t make any sense to us.  The problem is, that we don’t always know the reason for all of those rules.  But maybe somewhere deep in the past, someone discovered that if we do certain things they can come back to hurt us.

God knows us, better than the very best of us.  And when we understand that, it makes it all the easier to just faithfully follow His rules.  Jesus tells us that when we can follow those rules, there will be a reward.  We may not see it now, but when we finally do get to that Kingdom that He promised, we will be called “great.”  And that’s nice!
