On the day of Pentecost, Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed: . . .
“God raised this Jesus; of this we are all witnesses. Exalted at the right hand of God, he poured forth the promise of the Holy Spirit that he received from the Father, as you both see and hear.” Acts_2:14,22-33
Remember the Evangelist, John’s description of John the Baptist’s baptism of Jesus, beloved. John (the Baptist) testified further, saying, “I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky and remain upon him. I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ Jn 1:32-32
At Pentecost, it happened. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to baptize all the faithful. And in that baptism they all became bold enough to loudly proclaim Jesus as the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Yesterday we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus in our Easter Masses, in our hearts! Now, for the next 50 days we continue that celebration as one, long Easter before the Solemnity of Pentecost. Always keep that JOY of Jesus alive in your heart, beloved. For Jesus has filled us with that same Holy Spirit in our own baptisms. We are ONE with Him forever!
