04-10-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

April 10, 2016
(Third Sunday of Easter, C)
After the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus . . .
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,
“Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”  Jn_21:1-19

Not that long before this question, Peter, insisted that his faith in Jesus was unshakable!  Yet Jesus knew . . .

Peter said to him in reply, “Though all may have their faith in you shaken, mine will never be.”  Jesus said to him, “Amen, I say to you, this very night before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.”  Peter said to him, “Even though I should have to die with you, I will not deny you.” And all the disciples spoke likewise.  Mt_26:33-35

Yet deny, he did, and three times at that.  Maybe in baseball Peter would have been out.  But Jesus wasn’t and isn’t playing baseball.  Jesus is playing LIFE!  And in the game of Life, when we’re playing on Jesus’ side, we WILL win EVERY time!  All we have to do is answer that question Right!  “Do YOU love me?” – more than – Facebook, or internet, or your car, or your hobby, or your sports team, or even your very life!!!!   IF the answer is truly YES, beloved, we’ve already WON,
and it’s forever!
