Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be.” Jn_14:1-6
It’s easy to look back, knowing about Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection, and understand a little bit clearer what He was speaking to His disciples about. Yes, they would be troubled with all that was about to happen. How strong was their faith, when they all ran away? And when Jesus made this statement, the disciples didn’t have a clue as to what He was talking about, as Thomas asked, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” ibid.
Yes, it’s easy to look backwards. And for us, beloved, it brings us hope! Jesus did come back in the resurrection and brought to His disciples and to all of us who believe, the comfort and presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit. But one day, He promised, He will return again. And on that day, we will return home to the Father’s house. And we will be one with Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit FOREVER! And then we will look back and say – Oh my, He told us so, all along! And we’ll be so glad we believed!
Blessed birthday wishes to my mom, who’s already there!
