05-07-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

May 7, 2016
Jesus said to His disciples, “For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have come to believe that I came from God.  I came from the Father and have come into the world.  Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”   Jn_16:23b-28

No greater love has one than this, to lay down one’s life for his friend (paraphrase Jn 15:13).  God’s love is so immeasurable that He was willing to lay down His only Son’s life for us. And Jesus did just that!  Not to save us, because it’s up to us to do that.  Not to redeem us, because it’s up to us to do that.  But to offer us the chance to be able to be saved and redeemed – by our believing in Him.   God loves us so much, that He wants us to have every chance possible to be saved and redeemed.  He wants us to be with and like Him.  The “with” will be yet to seen, but the “like” is up to us.  Follow Jesus in every way we possibly can.  And that “with” will be a certainty!  Love!
