07-12-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

July 12, 2016
Jesus began to reproach the towns where most of his mighty deeds had been done, since they had not repented. . . .

He said, “For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”   Mt_11:20-24

Sodom and Gomorrah!  Oh yeah, we’ve been there before, and we won’t rehash old (and continued) sins.  But we do know that for those sins, those towns of old had been totally obliterated.

Now, Jesus was saying to the people of His time that they were in an even worse state than old Sodom!  And we might ask, “What could possibly be worse?”

Well, when we are aware of our wrongdoings and continue on that path; when we know who Jesus is and what He has done and still refuse to believe; when we refuse to ‘repent’ – ask true forgiveness for our sins – be they to other people or to God, then the deal is, that we have OURSELVES, decided to cut ourselves off from God and suffer the consequences.  And the consequences are worse than anything we could possibly imagine as bad, here in this life.  Even worse than death!  And that’s something, that’s some place that we never never want to go!!!!

Always remember, beloved, that God loves us so very much, that he wants nothing less than for us to be with Him for eternity.  And He’ll give us chance after chance to make amends.  But in the end – IT IS OUR CHOICE!

Choose LIFE, beloved!  Choose Jesus!
. . . for He has chosen us!
