Jesus said, “. . . every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.” Mt_13:47-53
Jesus’ focus on the Kingdom today had to do with “the end of the age,” the ‘Final Judgment.’ The Kingdom, as a net, would catch good and the bad, the righteous and the wicked, the old and the new. And there would be a separation.
Maybe we’re the old and wicked. Maybe we’re the new and righteous. What really is – good and bad? Maybe we’ve got it all backwards. Maybe only God really knows for sure. We think we’ve been raised good, and yet, are we judgmental of those who were raised differently? It’s not ours to judge. All we can do is keep on being the best we think we can be. And yet, as the “scribe,” we have to be open to both the old and the new.
So here’s my shot at it:
