08-01-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

August 1, 2016
(St. Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop and Doctor of the Church)
Jesus said, “One does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.”  Mt_4:4

Sometimes, don’t you wonder why it’s the poor who seem to have the strongest faith in God?  Maybe they’ve discovered the truth of the Words Jesus answered Satan, in his temptations.  The truth of the matter is, that some food can actually kill us.  But when we have the Life of God, when our lives are so filled with His precepts, His advice, His warnings, His hopefulness, then we don’t even need the physical kind of food.  And even if we die, we still have the life of God within ourselves.  Then, we are TRULY living! God’s Word IS Life!
