08-14-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

August 14, 2016
(20th Sunday Ordinary Time C)
Jesus said to his disciples: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!  Lk_12:49-53

On fire for the Lord.  On fire destroying evil.  On fire bringing light.  On fire destroying everything?  I think it’s blazing now, Jesus, as we look all around us.  Our world is being consumed by greed, death, ignorance, evil.  Save us in the baptismal waters of Life, Jesus.  Blaze with your love within us and rescue us from those hands that want to destroy you!

Brothers and sisters:  Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith.   Heb_12:1-4

. . . Our Light and our Fire!
