09-01-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

September 1, 2016
St. Paul said, “Brothers and sisters: Let no one deceive himself.  If anyone among you considers himself wise in this age, let him become a fool, so as to become wise.  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God, for it is written: ‘God catches the wise in their own ruses,‘   1_Cor_3:18-23

Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.”  When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.  Lk_5:1-11

So, was it wise to leave everything to follow Jesus?  After the fishing miracle, today’s ‘Simon’ would probably have kidnapped Jesus, the golden hen, to make his fortune in fishing.  But Jesus knew that these humble fishermen were not quite that devious.  And now as they look down at us from heaven and see some of us still worshiping the Lord, I think they would be proud of their worldly unwise, but Spiritually wise decision.  God has a plan!  And we are a part of it!  :  )
