09-10-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

September 10, 2016
In today’s Scriptures both Jesus and Paul were chastising their followers for not following with their whole hearts, not acting on their belief, their teaching.  Jesus said:  “I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them.  That one is like a man building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built.”  Lk_6:43-49

Sometimes it’s hard to find anything today that is well built.  We’ve discovered that the same money can be made with cheaper materials and with shoddy workmanship.  It’s sad.  But in our throw-away society it doesn’t seem to matter anyway – for most people.  And I may be old-fashioned, but I sure do like quality!  When you buy quality and then take care of it, it CAN last as long as you’d like it to, and even bring you return on investment when you’re wanting something newer.

Jesus IS the absolute BEST of quality that can be lived by.  When we follow Him and act on His Words, our lives will take on that quality of the very best God has to offer to the world.  Maybe the world won’t like us because of that, but God will certainly see to it that we WILL last, no matter how awfully the world may treat us.  And that’s a promise!
