10-17-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

October 17, 2016
(St. Ignatius of Antioch, Bishop and Martyr)
Jesus said to the crowd, “Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.”   Lk_12:13-21

Yeah, but it makes me feel good!  Yeah, but it gives me power over others.  Yeah, but are all those rich people really ‘alive’?  What makes us alive, beloved?  Maybe it’s not the taking but the giving that brings us life.  Maybe it’s the love that we give, the love that we share that will really bring us true life – eternal life!  And maybe if that’s what we do get to carry along with us after we die, (and not the possessions), it’s all much more worth it than all the possessions, the feeling good and the power that we can ever amass here and now.  Just maybe, eternity is worth it all!  Believe in Jesus, beloved, and follow His way – in community with one another, in His LOVE – and LIVE!
