(31st Sunday Ordinary Time C)
Zacchaeus the hated, chief tax collector, was intrigued by Jesus and went to extremes to see Him. After Jesus invited Himself to dine with Zacchaeus, the little man vowed to pay back any money he extorted and change his life. Jesus said, “Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.” Lk_19:1-10
Whatever it is, beloved, that we might be mixed up in, be it illegal or immoral, that thing that might bring us momentary happiness but immeasurable grief; whatever it is, Jesus is calling us back to repentance. We CAN turn back. God WILL forgive. And salvation can be ours as well. Lost never has to be permanent, beloved. Let Jesus find us and we will be saved!
