11-29-16 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

November 29, 2016
On that day, A shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom.  The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him: a Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, A Spirit of counsel and of strength, a Spirit of knowledge and of fear of the LORD, and his delight shall be the fear of the LORD.   Ps_72:1-2, 7-8, 12-13, 17

The Great and Glorious “day” of the Lord, when the world will be endowed with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.  Maybe Pentecost, maybe our baptism, maybe out of the blue we will be enlightened.  And Jesus said, all will know “me” from the least to the greatest.

Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.  Lk 10:21-24

Whenever we get to thinking that we’re too wise for our own britches and nobody but us really understands, then we’ve lost that ‘childlike’ wisdom of God.  And He wants us to let Him be our wisdom.  He WILL reveal Himself, if we just let Him.

Lord, today, help us to step down off our platforms of self-righteousness and recognize that only You are all-wise, only You are all-knowing.  Help us to know only what we need at the moment and to accept and listen to how others feel too, how others think and how we ourselves might grow from Your words given through them.
