(St. Nicholas, Bishop)
A voice cries out: In the desert prepare the way of the LORD! Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God! . . . Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together; Is_40:1-11
Ever feel like you’re living in a “wasteland” beloved? Sometimes that’s exactly what our lives might feel like when we’ve fallen away or forgotten to keep God, to keep Jesus close. The Prophet tells us today to prepare the way. Just as John the Baptist prepared the way for the coming of Jesus in the land of the Jordan River, so we too should be preparing a way in our hearts (as Advent reminds us) for the coming of our Savior. Jesus will be there to brighten up the dark spots and to defend us in those times we feel persecuted. And in the process, our wasteland will be turned into a beautiful garden of nourishment and joy. All we need do is follow His path!
