O Key of David,
opening the gates of God’s eternal Kingdom:
come and free the prisoners of darkness!
What is the darkness of our prison, beloved?
Is it illness or oppression? Is it the absence of a job or a loved one? Is it just the absence of love? As we await the coming of our Savior, both in the commemoration of His birth and His welcome into our hearts, let us open our eyes and ears to see and to hear His love all around us. It’s in those moments of painlessness. It’s in the poverty, yet the wealth of knowing that Jesus was poor as well. It’s in the life He gave for us: the light of His resurrection, the light of His ascension, the light of our Church. Hold tight to those beacons of hope, beloved, and know that we WILL be set free. It is His promise!
O Beacon of Hope, brighten our path,
that we may find our way to YOU!
