Every high priest is taken from among men and made their representative before God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is able to deal patiently with the ignorant and erring, for he himself is beset by weakness and so, for this reason, must make sin offerings for himself as well as for the people. Heb_5:1-10
The best way to relate to others is to have experienced what they are going, or have gone through. The experienced boxer can teach novices their skills. The master chef can teach others the secrets to their exquisite meals. And the reformed sinner can understand the challenges inherent with giving up enjoyable habits that may not be morally prudent, and then convey to them the sacrifices necessary to change. The priests and the saints know well these challenges. So they are good resources to seek out, when we are ready to improve our relationship with God. Jesus and the Holy Spirit are always there to guide us along the way.
Jesus makes our connection to God through his ultimate Sacrifice. All we need do is reconnect to Jesus. And our Sacrament of Reconciliation is like the recharging of our cell phones, reconnecting our souls to Him and recharging our righteousness!
