(St. Frances of Rome, Religious)
Jesus said to his disciples: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Mt_7:7-12
. . . Because . . .
If we don’t ask, how will we ever find the answer? And if we don’t seek, how will we ever find what we’re looking for? And if we don’t knock, how will we ever get in!
Today’s example was that of Queen Ester . . .
Queen Esther, seized with mortal anguish, had recourse to the LORD. She lay prostrate upon the ground, together with her handmaids, from morning until evening, and said: “God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob, blessed are you. Help me, who am alone and have no help but you, for I am taking my life in my hand.” Est_C:12,14-16,23-25
Ester knew that the only way her scheme was going to work was if the LORD supported her. And so she prayed. She asked the LORD for that help. She knocked and the door was answered. And from that answer, Ester, with the help of God saved their entire nation from extermination. It was a crowning moment for the Jews! And her day is still remembered today.
Blessed be our God, who answers our call and strengthens us in times of duress, when we stay faithful to Him!
