03-19-17 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

March 19, 2017
(3rd Sunday of Lent, A)
St. Paul wrote, “hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”  Rom_5:1-2,5-8

God’s love – POURED into our hearts, like an overflowing torrent!  A stream of endless hope – God does not disappoint!

Jesus told the sin-ridden foreigner, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Jn_4:5-42

What are we thirsting for, beloved?  Is it success, wealth, fame, recognition or even just acknowledgment that we exist?  All of those things are fleeting.  One day we’re living on easy street and the next we’re begging on it.  The only thing that really quenches our true thirst is God, is Jesus.  And Jesus quenches it with love!  Oh, yeah, we may have been jilted by love and never want to go down that avenue again.  But the love of God is different.  His love never ends.  And His love always satisfies. Come, beloved, drink from the well of eternal life. Get to know God.  Get to know Jesus and everything you’ve been searching for will be found.  Jesus IS!
