03-28-17 Catholic Daily Mass Quotes

March 28, 2017
The angel of the LORD said to Ezekiel, “Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of every kind shall grow; their leaves shall not fade, nor their fruit fail.  Every month they shall bear fresh fruit, for they shall be watered by the flow from the sanctuary. Their fruit shall serve for food, and their leaves for medicine.” Ez_47:1-9,12

Ezekiel 47 is one of my all-time favorites.  It tells the story of the river of life.  And if we zip over to Rev 22, we’ll just happen upon the same story.

It may be the story of our own journey to knowing God, as we first dip our feet into the shallows of His baptismal waters.  And if we stay the path, we’ll find how that water gets deeper and deeper until we’re actually swimming in it, unable to touch bottom.  Yet, we have no fear for our Lord Jesus will keep us afloat.

Eventually we find the trees; our brothers and sisters who teach us and heal us and feed us.  And one day, we discover that we ourselves become those trees to others.  What a magnificent journey.

Then the angel showed me the river of life-giving water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of its street. On either side of the river grew the tree of life that produces fruit twelve times a year, once each month; the leaves of the trees serve as medicine for the nations.

Nothing accursed will be found there anymore. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.  They will look upon his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.  Night will be no more, nor will they need light from lamp or sun, for the Lord God shall give them light, and they shall reign forever and ever.   Rev 22:1-5

This is our HOPE, beloved.
This WILL BE our future!
