Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing, nor do you consider that it is better for you that one man should die instead of the people, so that the whole nation may not perish.” He did not say this on his own, but since he was high priest for that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation, and not only for the nation, but also to gather into one the dispersed children of God. Jn_11:45-56
Jesus DID die and He did gather the dispersed children of God, but not those by whom He was killed. Many Jews, even today, still do not believe that Jesus was/is their promised Messiah. And, sadly, they will be waiting a long time, because they missed Him and still refuse to believe.
We Christians are fortunate in being among those dispersed children who did come to believe. And our goal, our call, our “Commission” is to help others SEE that light of hope, that light of peace, the light of Jesus which is offered for ALL!
Let’s be the very best Christians we can be this Easter Season, as many nominally believing or misunderstanding Christians will come to our Masses this Easter. And we may be the only true representatives of Christ they will experience for another whole year. We are His Light, and His Hope and His welcome to all of our lost brothers and sisters, and we may only have one shot at showing them God’s true love for them!
Let’s make it count!
