(St. Anthony of Padua, Priest and Doctor of the Church)
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.” Mt_5:13-16
Back home tonight, after a long, intensely amazing weekend watching our son become a priest. And now what’s left are waves of euphoria. The lamp is lit. St. Joseph’s parish in Herndon, VA gets to bask in the glow. And yet, so do we, beloved! Fr. James listened to God’s call and followed. Our call may be to shine that light to our family, to our friends, to our coworkers. But however it’s done. It’s to God’s glory! And it’s to God’s glory that others may see and continue His life-brightening mission of LOVE in their world too!
